SALT. Max is a 1950s classic rebuilt the way SALT. builds everything else: Japanese acetate, tight hardware, and a unisex silhouette that still has Hollywood in it. The manufacturer calls it a bold reread of a mid-century shape—favored on-screen, useful in real life—and that is how we sell it here: vintage proportion, modern finish, no costume.
The acetate is Japanese, chosen for rigidity, lasting adjustment, and high luster. Functional rivet hinges. Acetate thickness set so the lens is supported, not pinched. Designed in California, 100% made in Japan. Optical frame $495.
Who it’s for. Unisex. If you want a recognizable mid-century look with a 50 mm eye, a generous 20 mm bridge, and longer 148 mm temples, Max is the comfortable “statement that still works at a desk.” We will check the bridge on you—20 mm is kinder to a wider or lower nose than many acetate squares.
Shape. Unisex 1950s-inspired (optical). Manufacturer does not name a geometry beyond the vintage silhouette.
Material. Premium Japanese acetate; functional rivet hinges; Japanese componentry.
Origin. Designed in California. 100% made in Japan.
